This was a project for the cultural legacy "VOORUIT" it served as an installation in the foyer of the building. The in-house team would project all sorts of video-fragments against the broken surface. This minimal boulder refers to the boulder on the poster that was created by the in-house team.
I was commisioned to make an abstract version in cardboard that would be hung from the ceiling, there was a real danger it could fall down, haha
The animation below was an experiment to visualise the look and feel of lighting and texturing the boulder in motion. These techniques were not put into practice but would be nice to evaluate in the future. (tracking and projecting animations would make for some cool interaction)
These pictures show the progress of the cardboard boulder being build a week before the event. The bigger the sculpture the slower it goes and the more structural issues one faces while constructing. ( simular to the construction of the office bear 2 years ago check here )
